The pilot game Star Wars Squadrons is coming

This year we may still get a new Star Wars title, but a little different than anyone had hoped.

Some may find Star Wars enough and too much, but Electronic Arts have the right to make games in that franchise so they don’t plan to stop with them so soon. We know DICE isn’t working on Battlefront 3 but on the next Battlefield, and the next Star Wars Jedi is still a long way off, but that doesn’t mean we won’t see a new Star Wars title soon.

The next game will be called Star Wars Squadrons and will focus on space battles with spacecraft. That’s all we know for now, and more information, along with the first trailer, we’ll get on Monday at 5 pm our time.

By the way, Star Wars video games in which the players were aircraft pilots were once very popular thanks to the X-Wing series. There were several such games during the 1990s, but with the advent of the 21st century, the action has mostly moved to the ground with only a few minor cases in which aircraft could be operated, most recently in Star Wars Battlefront 2.
